Author Activity – Summer 2026

The GateWay Writer’s Den is staying active!

The third edition of the biblical creation resource (see my recent blog on it) has now been translated into Spanish. I expect to make a publishing decision soon, but it appears that we have enough users in the US and one other nation to warrant publishing the Spanish addition. Our tentative schedule is to have it available in a couple months. The cover design will be the same as the English version except for the Spanish words. When the time comes, I will announce its availability.

Another nonfiction writing requirement surfaced late last year. I have talked to young Christians several times in the last two years that do not have a ready resource on the basics of Christianity that deal with some very practical topics. Some of those include how to involve God in decision making on making best use of training/education, investigating job possibilities, basic finances, and goals (like family and children). So, I have proposed a series of short booklets. Several of them are being developed from the notes during sessions we have had with young believers in the Philippines. I am shooting for a draft by the end of the year. As every writer knows, however, these kinds of projects can get extended with editing and illustrating processes.

I will post about these kinds of writing, because it is different than trying to make ends meet (financially). These resources are primarily for those who have none or may not be able to afford them if they were. It changes the playing board.

Why go in this direction? If you were with me in some of the regions we visit, you would understand. It is a different world compared to being in nations whose citizens have resources at their fingertips and can easily afford books. I will talk about this kind of writing in a coming post.

Meanwhile, my wife is working on the third children’s book of a trilogy (The Adventures of Rica Mae and Juliet: Angels at the Wedding). It is coming along nicely. She is also proceeding on a non-fiction book that is practical but full of interesting stories and useful tips. She will be speaking of both books in the next few months.

Thanks for reading.  Roland
